Job Objective:
The Head of Finance is responsible for the co-creation and implementation of the organizations strategic financial management and reporting, business analysis, budgeting, controls and forecasting. To ensure ongoing viability and secure financial future in line with the organization’s business objective.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Provide strategic financial support and guidance to the organisation.
Ensure financial controls are designed, implemented and managed within the organisation based on overall company guidelines.
Analyse, report and review on organisational profitability, trends and balance sheet.
Prepare and communicate Board Reports.
Manage the budget process including CAPEX in line with group processes and guidelines.
Deliver capital management of projects to determine and guide activities that produce attractive rate of return.
Provide actionable, relevant and time sensitive insight and information to business leaders to enable key business and strategic decisions.
Provide Finance leadership on Process Efficiency, Business Performance Measures and Management, Analytical Support and Predictive Analysis.
Integrate internal business information with market events and industry knowledge to identify new opportunities and formulate strategy.
Integrate and contract with the Central Finance and Finance Operations areas to ensure delivery to the business unit with in terms of agreed SLA's.
Be responsible and report on the overall business risk assessment and management process of the organisation, ensuring with the MD and Group CFO, adequately assess and document risks faced by the organisation.
Financial systems designed, implemented and maintained.
Accounting policy and developments, staying abreast and implementation.
Primary relationship with Groups Auditors, and reporting to management and statutory financial reporting.
Qualifications and Competencies
University Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Professional Qualification in Business/Finance is highly desirable.
8 years management experience, of which a minimum of 4 years should be at a senior management level. Insurance Industry experience preferable.
Knowledge of accounting packages, systems and controls including budgeting.
Exceptional Business acumen and broad business knowledge.
In depth knowledge of financial accounting and related processes.
Knowledge of Ghana Financial Reporting Standards.
Sound knowledge of IFRS reporting standards.
Detailed knowledge of the relevant legislation and accounting standard, specifically for Insurance Companies.
